Dr Allan Marchington Dr Allan Marchington wrote the following letter to DSPC Restorations on the 9th May 2009: Dear Lorraine, I feel compelled to write to you, to congratulate DSPC on the standard and quality of their work. Restoring steam engines which are well over a 100 years old is an incredibly difficult task to do well. Many engineering companies use modern day techniques to find quick fixes in their restoration and it shows in the detail of their work. However I have been impressed that the small team at DSPC have studied the old crafts and skills of the victorian engineer and are faithfully applying those ancient skills and crafts to your projects. The detail in your restorations speaks volumes to the DSPC attention to the crafts and skills of the past that ensure the engine looks just right!! The DSPC restoration of my 1889 Fowler traction engine was truly remarkable. The craftsmanship and detail which is evident in the restoration is a testament to DSPC's commitment to ensuring a first class job using the traditinal skills and crafts of over 100 years ago. I can see those same skills being applied to the restoration of 1905 steam roller also evident and the other work which is undertaken by the team. I hope that DSPC is a great success to ensure that those dying crafts and skills are retained and nutured in our future projects. Yours sincerely Dr Allan Marchington |
